7 used cars to get in 2022 for car enthusiasts in Toronto

Shopping for a used car in Canada is hard, especially during our turbulent times where depreciation is starting to seem more like a myth. Here are some of best used cars car enthusiasts in Toronto can get in 2022.

How can you find the best used cars?

Below are four of the most common websites you can use to find the best deals on used cars:

Autotrader.ca: With over 3 million monthly users, Autotrader is the largest online automotive marketplace in Canada for new and used cars. You can compare car prices, learn about new car news and look at reviews and advice for all the different types of cars that are on sale.

Kijiji Autos: Kijiji Autos is a Canadian online classified advertising website which facilitates the sale of cars. You can search through new, used and certified pre-owned cars as well as choosing between both dealers and private sellers.

CarGurus: CarGurus is a car shopping site where they focus on having the best deals first by comparing prices, detailed vehicle data and dealer reviews; and providing personalized searches by making it easy to refine and personalize your search results.

Clutch: Clutch is Canada's first online car buying experience. Every car listed on the site has gone through a 210-point inspections, as well as having a detailed CARFAX report done to see the history of the vehicle. The site also provides high-resolution 360 degree photographs of all their cars and will ship the car to your doorstep when you order from them.

Canada Drives: Canada Drives is another fully online car buying website. Every car listed on the site has gone through a 150-point inspection and comes with a free CARFAX vehicle history report. You will also be able to take 7 days to test out your new car once you have it shipped to your doorstep and they provide a full refund if you decide the car is not the right fit for you.

1. 2019 Kia Stinger GT

The Stinger GT stunned the industry when it came out, no one expected KIA to be able to make such a competent sports sedan and have it priced so attractively. With a 3.3L pumping out 368 horsepower, it's certainly no slouch even though it has to haul around almost 1,900 kg. The Stinger not only looks good, but it's also incredibly practical since it has a hatchback with loads of cargo space. 4 years on and it's getting cancelled since it never sold particularly well but this means that there is a bargain to get here as you'll be hard pressed to find anything this powerful and premium in this price class. However, the Stinger is notorious for having squeaks and rattles particularly in the rear hatch and the sunroof, these issues were fixed with later models.

With prices ranging from $37,000 to $40,000, the Stinger GT is a great car to get for those seeking a unique sports sedan experience that no other manufacturer can provide.

2. 2015 Honda Civic Si

Combining both practicality and fun into one neat little package is what Honda has always excelled at when creating Si versions of their best selling compact car, the Civic. Pumping out 205 horsepower from its 2.4L 4 cylinder to the front wheels, the 9th generation Civic Si is by no means fast but it certainly feels peppy. With its 7,000 rpm redline, funky dashboard and six-speed manual transmission, it's the perfect recipe for a nippy and fun car. With this generation of Civic being basically trouble free all these years later, you'll be able to have a fun time while not having to worry about expensive servicing bills. This particular example is perfectly reasonable at $21,999 and looks to have been perfectly maintained by its previous owner.

3. 2020 Honda Accord Touring 2.0T

The Honda Accord is one of the best mid-sized sedans you can buy for 2022. With its 2.0T 4-cyclinder pumping out a healthy 252 horsepower, it's essentially a detuned version of the engine you can get in the Type-R. This allows the car to get from 0-60 in 5.4 seconds, which is faster than most of its competition. Moreover, the Accord has also proven itself to be reliable and comfortable for both the driver and passengers. This generation of Honda Accord has chiseled good looks, zippy performance and is very reliable, which is why it has barely depreciated since its introduction in 2018. With slightly over 30,000 km clocked on this particular example, you'll have to pay almost $39,000 to get one. There are other examples with almost 100,000 km clocked going for around $30,000, but you'll need to give those a thorough look over to see how it's stood up to the wear and tear.

4. 2015 Lexus IS 350 F-Sport AWD

Speaking of reliable yet sporty cars, the IS 350 has flown under the radar for most people as its more of a luxurious cruiser that has engaging handling. The Lexus IS 350 is an excellent luxury sports sedan that's engaging to drive at its limits yet doesn't break your back when you're cruising around town. In 350 guise, it's extra entertaining as it has Toyota's sonorous naturally aspirated V6 that pumps out 306 horsepower. The most impressive part about the IS 350 isn't even the engine, it's the fit and finish of its interior. Once you get in you're surrounded by high-quality materials that you know will last you a lifetime.

This particular example has 120,000 km clocked in, which for a Lexus means the engine still has lots of life left in it. With this example having gone through a rigorous 210-point CARFAX inspection and being priced at only $27,990, someone should snap this bargain up ASAP since comparable examples are going to $5-10,000 more.

5. 2018 Audi S3

Link to posting: Kijiji

Being an Audi, the compact S3 looks a lot more mature than it's boisterous twin, the Golf R. However, the S3 is a wolf in sheep's clothing, with its chiseled looks hiding a 306 horsepower 4-cyclinder that pops and bangs when you shift gears. Moreover, with its legendary Quattro AWD system, it'll be able to plow through any bad weather you throw at it. The steering also feels accurate and it has finely tuned suspension which will allow it to carve through corners with ease. This generation of S3 also has Audi's now signature digital dash as an option, letting you pull up navigation while also being able to see your speed and revs. However, there are some issues with this car. The rear leg room is very cramped and there is limited trunk space since it's a compact car.

This particular example is on sale for $34,888 and it's fully loaded. Just be sure to check any S3 you intend to get thoroughly to see if it has been carefully maintained as the engine can be a nightmare to fix.

6. 2005 Subaru Forester STi

The Subaru Forester STi, a car for those young at heart but need a larger car for their family. Created when rally craziness swept through the entire Impreza range, this RHD JDM exclusive SUV boasts stiffer suspension, a high driving position and a 265hp flat 4 that puts the power down to all 4 wheels through a 6-speed manual. This particular example has only driven 64,863km, which is impressive considering the car is 17 years old. The Forester STi is perfect for Canadian roads, with its high seating position, you'll be able to have fun even in winter with the amount of grip Subaru's legendary AWD system provides. All this can be had for just $24,600, which is very reasonable considering the amount of car you get.

7. 2007 Honda Civic Type-R FD2

Source: Carscoops

The FD2 Type-R is a RHD Japanese exclusive that was only built in limited numbers, with only 13,000 units ever produced. This is also the last ever generation of Civic Type-R to be produced in Japan, the last ever naturally aspirated Type-R and the only time Honda has ever made a Civic Type-R in sedan form. With the legendary K20A producing 225 horsepower at 8000 rpm and a 6-speed manual transmission, you'll be smiling all the way to the redline as VTEC kicks in violently at 6000 rpm to shove you back into your seat. However, you can tell this car was built for motorsports, since its suspension is so stiff you'll probably break the spines of passengers travelling in the back seat.

This particular example is currently on sale for $23,999, but it does boast fairly high mileage, sitting currently at 122,114km. However, underneath all the performance upgrades it's still a Civic, which means it should last you quite a while provided you do regular maintenance and oil changes.
